<br />Information Study. Work Element J of the April 1977 Corps of Engineers

<br />charges for the 2-, 5-, 10-, 50-, 100-, and 500-year floods are required
<br />
<br />for existing and urbanized conditions. The detention pond analysis described
<br />
<br />in the Plan of Study will be performed by the Engineering Department of the
<br />
<br />City of Greeley, Colorado.

<br />Poudre River, has its source near the Highway 34-257 intersection eight miles
<br />
<br />west of Greeley, Colorado. From its source, Sheep Draw flows in a generally
<br />
<br />northeasterly direction to business route #34, then north to its confluence
<br />
<br />with the Cache la Poudre River. The l5-square-mile basin is primarily rural,
<br />

<br />but is expected to urbanize within the next few years. Elevations in,the basin
<br />
<br />range from 4,690 to 5,050 feet above mean sea level. A map of the Sheep Draw basin
<br />
<br />is shown on attachment 1.

<br />3. EXISTING STRUCTURES. Four reservoirs were considered in the hydrologic
<br />
<br />analysis of the basin. One is on Sheep Draw in section 13, approximately one
<br />
<br />mile upstream from Highway #34. Two others are located on tributaries in
<br />
<br />section 13. Another reservoir is on a tributary in section 4, approximately
<br />

<br />one mile above the mouth of Sheep Draw. During late spring and summer, water
<br />
<br />from these reservoirs is used to irrigate nearby crop land. Although flood
<br />
<br />control is not a specific function of the reservoirs; some residual flood
<br />
<br />control effects are provided downstream. Two canals, Boomerang Ditch and
