INTRODUCTION
The Town of Ordway, Colorado, has identified inadequacies in the existing
storm water drainage system which prompts flooding in certain locations in
Town. Th i s report presents the resul ts of an analysi s of the exi sti ng hydro-
1 ogi c and hydraul i c condi ti ons, and presents alternate dra i nage schemes to
address the Town's stormwater management needs. Figure 1 shows the location of
the master planning drainage project.

Authorization
This study titled "Floodplain Study and r~aster Drainage Plan for the Town
of Ordway", was authorized by the Town of Ordway, Colorado, in technical
cooperation with the Colorado Water Conservation Board. An authorization to
proceed with this study was given September, 1986.

Purpose and Scope

The purpose and scope of this study is to analyze the existing drainage

conditions within the Town of Ordway, determine the existing drainage

problems, and develop and analyze alternative improvements to reduce the

impacts due to flooding.

The specific scope of work included the following:

1. Meet initially and periodically with the project sponsor to insure
compl iance with the scope of services, obtain pertinent existing infor-
mation, and to identify the stonnwater management goals of the Town.

2. Perform hydraul ic analysis for offsite and local systems.

5. Define drainage problems, flood-prone areas, and estimate flood damages.

6. Develop improvement alternatives to reduce flooding problems, and to
minimize public works maintenance problems resulting from local flooding.

7. Evaluate improvement alternatives.

8. Exami ne the operati on and ma i ntenance aspects of the improvement al ter-
natives.

9. Conduct a cost analysis.
