TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

Even though Federal partic pation in construction of erosion-control measures may not be
economically justified, or the authority not ava! lable for private property protection,
the Corps of Eng i nears Is ava j I ab I e to prOIl I de techn i ca I ass I stance. The j nformat ion
presented in th ; 5 brochure on a I ternat i ve measures for abat i ng streamb<~nk eros ion may
require additional technical assistance. Rock Island District personnel clre avai lable to
help explain these measures more fullY1 but a private engineering consultant firm would be
required for the design and construction of the project. Hopefully, in those instances
when technical assistance, local Initiative, and minimum resources 61'"e combined, a
solution to bank erosion problems can be found.

4
