These two drawings are presented here for easy reference and

comparison of the improvement achieved by constructing the recommended channel

..

improvements.

Plates 111-3 through 111-12 represent drainageway planning drawings for
Niver Creek in the form of plan and profile sheets. The drawings indicate the
proposed channel and structure improvements and the lOO-year flood plain which
corresponds to the improved channel. Structure and channel improvements can be
handled in a number of ways; therefore, design capacities are shown for each
structure and channel reach in order to allow future development complete flexi-
bility. The information shown on the drawings will allow developers and munici-
palities to proceed with future development in an orderly and compatible manner,

These drawings should not be used for final construction of individua I

structures without a detai led investigation of topography, utilities and other items

normally required for final design.

The following discussion presents the design criteria and philosophy used
in arriving at the proposed channel and structure modifications. The discussion is
arranged to coincide with the drawings.

South Platte River to Steele Street - Plate 111-3

A COncrete lined energy dissipator, approximately 250 feet long, exists
immediately downstream of the Steele Street crossing, The remainder of the chan-
nel from the concrete lining to the South Platte River is a well defined natural

111-1
