S. Corps of Engineers computer program HEC II, Water Surfoce
Profiles. The program computes the water surface profile for river channels of any
cross-section for flows greater or less than critical. The effects of bridges, cul-
verts, weirs and dams con be considered in the computations, The procedure used
is similar to Method 1, Backwater Curves in River Channels, Engineering Iv\onual
1110-2-1409, USCE. This method applies the Bernoulli Theorem for total energy
at each channel cross-section and M:lnning's Formula for friction head loss belween
cross-sections.

The final water surface profi Ie and 10o-year flood plain shown on the

drawings were computed by the use of the HEC II progrom.

11-6
