Louis Ducret, Jr. and Harold Hodges.
An additional 75 copies have beende1ivered to your office for use
in handling requests. The magnitude and frequency of peak discharges
must, of course, be considered in the design of storm drainage systems
and structures. The U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the
Colorado Department of Highways and the Urban Drainage and Flood
Control District is conducting studies in which rainfall-runoff data
from small watersheds are being collected and analyzed to estimate
the."meanannual flood and floods of other frequencies for drainage
basins in Colorado. Data are being collactedon 30 drainage basins
that range from about 40 acres to about 1.5 square miles in the
Denver metropolitan area and On 43 rural basins in eastern and
southwestern Colorado that range in size from about 1 to about
25 square miles. These 73 sites cover a broad range of basin
characteristics in the rural and urban environment.

The report, Colorado Water Conservation Board B~~;~-D~r~ ~~J~~e
Jt~. 2Z, has been prepared to inform potential data users of the
-rnvestigatioh and to present information on all significant
rainfall-runoff data that have been collected from the beginning of
the study in June 1968 to the end of the 1971 storm season.

Sincerely yours,

<t?
