A~ Corps of E~eineers
60q Second Street Davis California Q'i616
AUTHOR(5) ru,""TE PROGRAM COMPLETED STATUS OF PROGRAM
C. E. Abraham March 1968 PHASE ISTAGE
Init. On.
A. PURPOSE OF PROGRAM
The program computes the annual suspended sediment load corresponding to
observed daily water discharge measurements. The relation used in the computa-
tions is computed from a record of observed daily discharges and suspended sedi
ment loads. other options can be used, such as computing the weighted size
distribution of particles, computing the relation of instantaneous sediment
loads, and flows, and computation of frequency statistics for the annual loads"
B. PROGRAM SPECIP'ICATIONS
The program is written in FORrRAN II for the IBM 1620 computer with 40K memory.
Execution time requires about 10 minutes per year of observed discharges.
c. MET HODS
The relation for suspended sediment load is derived from regression analysis of
the logarithms of load and discharge. In addition to the discharge, the daily
relation depends on the sequence of daily discharges. The weighted size distri
but ion of sediment particles is computed by weighting each sampled size analysi
according to the load corresponding to the sample.
D.
