November 1976 Init.
A. ..u.......".... ....00...... The program computes water surface profiles for steady,
gradually varied flow in rivers of any cross section. Flow may be subcritica1
or supercritica1 . Various routines are available for modifying input cross
section data, for example, for locating encroachments or inserting a trape-
zoidal excavation on cross sections. The water surface profile through struc-
tures such as bridges, culverts and weirs can be modeled. Variable channel
roughness and variable reach length between adjacent cross sections can be
accommodated. Printer plots c~~ be m~~~~~f ;gr river cros~ sections and
computed profiles. Friction losses can be calculated from a
choice of four different equations. Bridge losses are based on energy and
momentum principles, and weir and orifice formulas. Critical depth is based
on minimum energy.
D. .QUI~."T DIET AI....
The program was written for use in the CDC 6600 co~puter but may be used with
minor modifications on other high-speed computers avinq five or.,more disk/tape
units plus input and output units such as those available on the IBM 360, IBM
370, and UNIVAC 1108. Memory requirements are approximately 32K words on CDC
6600.
-..~.
Input is by card. Tabular data can be produced on the printer from a
choice of sixty-three variables. Fixed-format tables can be requested
to display bridge, encroachment, channel improvement, floodway, and flood
insurance zone data. Printer plots can be obtained of profiles and cross
section. Program generated labels facilitate use on interactive terminals.
Punched card output is optional.
'0 ADDITIONAL 1t."A,UCI
A data edit program (723-Gl-L202C) which checks the data cards for various
input errors is available.
. - - ---
I.

DII; POll..
t Aua 60

2883

".IIYIQU.
