PURPOSE OF PROGRAM
This program will solve by successive approximations for any number of cascs,
in tUrn, for the optimum Muskingum routing coefficients, K and X, to reproduce
observed outflow hydrographs.for a number of floods.
B. PROGRAM SPECIPICATIONS
Program is di~nsioned for 1.20 flow ordinates up to 5 locations at anyone time
The maximu.'ll number of subrea.ches is 6.
C. MET HODS
THe gradient optimization method of successive approximations is used to deter-
mine routing coefficients for the Mus kill{>UD1 method of' routing flood flOlrs down
a natural channel.
D. EQUIPMENT DET AILS
Program requires a FORrRAN II compiler and utilizes approximately 10,000 words
of core.
E. INPUT~OUTPUT
Card input and printer output.
F. ADDITIONAL REMARKS
The program is not ,=ffective where local nmoff is large in comparison to
measured inflows or 1{here one measured inflOlf is small in comparison to the
outflCM.
This program has been combined with a number of smaller programs to make a
package for more efficient use, maximum flexibility and ease of operational
control.
