<br />Chapter 2 Installing HEC-RAS <br /> <br />Hardware and Software Requirements <br /> <br />Before you install the HEC-RAS software, make sure that your computer has <br />the required hardware and software. This version ofHEC-RAS will run on a <br />microcomputer that has the following: <br /> <br />. Any IBM or compatible machine with an 80386 processor or higher. <br /> <br />. A hard disk with at least 10 megabytes of free space. <br /> <br />. A 3 l/2" floppy drive. <br /> <br />. A minimum of 4 megabytes of RAM (8 is recommended). <br /> <br />. A mouse. <br /> <br />. Color VGA or better Video Display <br /> <br />. MS-DOS version 3.3 or later. <br /> <br />. MS Windows version 3.1 or later, running in 386 enhanced mode. <br /> <br />Installation Procedure <br /> <br />Installation of the HEC-RAS software is accomplished through the use of the <br />Setup program. When you run the Setup program, you will be asked to set a <br />path for the program and data files. A suggested directory of "\HECRAS" <br />will be provided. You may choose to use this directory name or provide one <br />of your own. <br /> <br />. To install the software onto your hard disk, do the following: <br /> <br />I. Start Windows by typing WIN, then press the ENTER key. <br /> <br />2. Insert Disk I into the A drive (or B if necessary). <br /> <br />3. From the File menu of the Windows Program Manager, choose Run. <br /> <br />4. Type a:setup (or b:setup if disk I is in the B drive) and press ENTER. <br /> <br />5. Follow the setup instructions on the screen. <br /> <br />2-2 <br />
