Thus making thi~ report compatible <br />forre.:ulationpurpoaeg, andH.B. 1041designationaandFedera 1 Insurance <br />AdmInistration flood insurance rate studIes. <br /> <br />These flood events have probability of occurrence one in the <br />number of years as indicated. For e~ample. the 100-year flood occurs, <br />on the average, once in a 100-year period, and has II one percent chance <br />of being equalled or e~ceeded in any gIven year. <br /> <br />Information presented for the 10- and 50-yesr f1ood~ could be <br />used by the localjurisdictiotls for planningpurposea. They could be <br />used in future planninR and deaign efforts related to various land use <br />octivitlea, auch as, design of roads and bridges, minor channel improve- <br />ments, plannIng parks and recreational facilities, and other types of <br />hydraulic structutes. <br /> <br />, <br />, <br />I <br />I <br />i <br />, <br /> <br />The 100-year flood flo~s may also be used for thoao planning <br />and design activitIes mentioned in connection ~ith 10- and SO-year flood <br />flows.
