" \ I <br />. ,. l l <br />~~___._....m ..~)b <br />l~C);';GF'fl:>'J 'VAT!:F: <br />C=:-~~:,:~-:"..'."'- :':,.:r,: [~~~~';;,~':J <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Organizations Requesting Hard-Copy Flood Insurance <br /> <br />RE: <br /> <br />Flood Insurance Study (FIS) Data Retention <br /> <br />The Federal Emergency Management Agency (P'EMA) has implemented a project to <br />retrieve all back-up data from selected Flood Insurance Studies for cataloguing. <br />Selected data will be microfilmed for permanent archival storage at a P'EMA <br />facility. Copies of the microfilmed data will also be made available to the <br />Regional office of P'EMA, the State FIS Coordinating Office, and other selected <br />Federal Agencies. Upon completion of this process, all hardcopy original data <br />will be forwarded to a final repository. <br /> <br />The P'EMA Regional Office has approved your agency or organization as a final <br />repository for the hardcopy original data. It is not the intent of P'EMA to <br />recall this data, as the microfilmed material will serve our purposes. You may <br />utilize this information completely at your discretion and you are under no <br />obligation to permanently maintain the FIS data. <br /> <br />The possibility exists that in the future you may receive requests for portions <br />of the data from a var iety of sources. You may release information for any such <br />requests at your discretion, however, please be advised that in this event there <br />will be no cost reimbursement by FEMA. However, we hope that your organization <br />will be able to fulfill such requests. If you do not wish to fill a partiCUlar <br />request, the party may be referred to your P'EMA Regional Office. <br /> <br />Attached to this letter is a list of studies being sent to you. Subsequent <br />shipments of studies will be accompanied by a copy of this letter and a list of <br />studies transmitted. <br /> <br />If you have questions or wish to obtain an estimate of the future vo1U111e of <br />studies being forwarded to you, please contact your P'EMA Regional Office. <br /> <br /> <br />chard E.
