<br />Introduction <br /> <br />Purpose <br /> <br /> <br />This Preliminary Findings report is intended to provide the <br /> <br /> <br />Town of Erie with an analysis of the Town during 2 and 5 year <br /> <br /> <br />storm events and a preliminary alignment for a storm sewer system <br /> <br /> <br />to convey these flows to Coal Creek. A Preliminary Drainage <br /> <br /> <br />Study for the Town of Erie to be completed at a later date will <br /> <br /> <br />provide greater details of the storm sewer requirements and will <br /> <br /> <br />provide an analysis of the Town drainage during a major storm <br /> <br /> <br />event. The area analyzed in this Preliminary Findings report has <br /> <br /> <br />been limited to the 'Old Town' area. <br /> <br /> <br />Site Description <br /> <br /> <br />The Old Town portion of Erie is approximately 230 acres <br /> <br /> <br />located in Section 18, Township I North, Range 68 West of the <br /> <br /> <br />Sixth Principal Meridian in southwestern Weld County. The Old <br /> <br /> <br />Town area generally is bounded by the Union Pacific Railroad on <br /> <br /> <br />the south, Northeast County Line Road on the west, undeveloped <br /> <br /> <br />property to the north and Coal Creek to the east. The Town is <br /> <br /> <br />developed with a mixture of small commercial establishments and <br /> <br /> <br />single family residences. <br /> <br /> <br />A 10 to 15 foot high bluff bisects the Town from north to <br /> <br /> <br />south. The eastern, or low side of the bluff lies within the <br /> <br /> <br />floodplain of Coal Creek. The west side of town on top of the <br /> <br /> <br />bluff is not endangered by Coal Creek.
