The current version of the
FHBM showed curvilinear boundaries, added Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) and reduced
SFHA. No previous studies have been conducted for the Town of Nucla.

Community Response to the CWCB Desil!Dation and Approval Process
A letter from the CWCB was transmitted to the Town of Nucla regarding the Board's proposed
action for designation and approval of the Nucla FHBM. The town was receptive to the Board's
proposed designation action, and sent an official letter requesting that the CWCB designate and
approve the floodplain information currently available to the community. A copy of the request
letter is included in the Appendix of this report.

A meeting was held with the Public Works Director on November 9, 2000, to explain the
designation process, to review the FHBM and to solicit comments regarding the maps and
general flooding conditions in the town. A field tour of the Calamity Draw floodplain was also
conducted at this time. No contradictory evidence to the FHBM was mentioned in the meeting or
found during the field review.

3
