Datum of gage is <br />2,523.14 ft (769.053 m) above mean sea level. <br /> <br />Location. --This system comprises 4 storage reservoirs created by 4 separate darns on <br />Salt River: Roosevelt Lake, formed by Roosevelt Dam, in sec. 20, T. 4 N., R. 12 E. <br />(unsurveyed), on State Highway 88; Apache Lake, formed by Horse Mesa Dam, 17 mi <br />(27 km) downstream fl"om Roosevelt Darn; Canyon Lake, formed by MOl"mon Flat <br />Dam, 27 mt (43 krn) downstream from Roosevelt Dam; and Saguaro Lake, formed by <br />Stewart Mountain Dam, 37 mi (60 km) downstream from Roosevelt Dam. Contents <br />given herein are combined contents of the 4 reservoirs. <br /> <br />DiSCharge record. --Stage-discharge relation defined below 27,000 ft3/s (760 m3/s) and <br />extended above on basis of slope-area measurement of peak flow. Discharge <br />Sept. 5-9 estimated on basis of adjoining good record and on basis of normal <br />recession. <br /> <br />DrainaJ;!"€ area, --6, 211 mi2 (16,086 km2), at Stewart Mountain Dam. <br />Maxima. --Sept, I-IS, 1970: Contents, 964,000 acre-ft (1, 190 hm3) 2400 hours Sept. 10. <br />~10 to August 1970: Contents, 1,764,000 acre-ft (2, 180 hm3) May 22, 1941. <br /> <br />Maxima. --Sept. 4-10, 1970: Discharge, 53,000 ft3/s (1,500 m3/s) 2100 hours Sept. 5 <br />(gage height, 18.2 it or 5.55 m). <br />1940 to August 1970; Discharge, 45,400 ft3/s (1,290 m3/s) Jan. 18. 1952 (gage <br />height, 16.55 ft or 5.044 m), from rating curve extended above 2,000 ft3/s (60 m3/s) <br />on basis of previous rating curve defined to 27, 000 ft3/s or 760 m3/s. <br /> <br />Remarks. --Total capacity of the 4 reservoirs is 1,755,000 acre-ft (2, 160 hm3), divided <br />as follows: Roosevelt Lake, 1,382,000 acre-ft (I, 700 hm3); Apache Lake, 245,000 <br />acre-ft (302 hm3); Callyon Lake, 58,000 acre-ft (71. 5 hm3); and Saguaro Lake, <br />70,000 acre-ft (86. 3 hm3). Dead storage negligible. Dams forming these reservoirs <br />were built as follows: Roosevelt, 1905-11; Horse Mesa, 1924-27; Mormon Flat, <br />1923~26; and Stewart Mountain, 1928-30. Since 1910, spill over Roosevelt Dam <br />because of capacity or near-capacity storage has occurred only during the following <br />periods: Apr. 15 to June 21, 1915; Jan. 19 to May 30, 1916; Apr. 21 to June 7, 1917; <br />Feb. 17 to June 3, 1920; Apr. 13 to July 24, 1941; Dec. 30, 1965 to Jan. 10, 1966; <br />and Feb. 16 to Apr. 26, 1968. Records given herein represent usable contents. <br />
