Upstream from the Alta Vista Community, the Dry Creek channel is <br />undefined e:>:cepl for a small drainage ditch JUS! downstream from College Avenue. <br />Extensive commercial and residential development is located within the Dry Creek <br />flood plain between College Avenue to the Larimer and Weld Canal. Downstream <br />of the Larimer and Weld Canal, the Dry Creek channel has been obliterated from <br />Willox Lane to downstream from lIle trailer court. In lIle Fort Collins AilJlMk area, <br />the disposal of building materials and other f1llmaterial inllle Dry Creek channel <br />hasreduc:editscapacity. <br /> <br />Dry Creek has two major tributaries, Spring Gulch and Park Creek. Spring <br />Gulch drains into Park Creek in lIle upper lIlird of the basin. Park Creek dr.lins into <br />Dry Creek near lIle center of lIle basin. Flows from Dry Creek and its tributaries an: <br />intercepted by two major, on-stream reservoirs (park Creek Reservoir and Douglas <br />Lake), 15 off-stream. reservoirs, and 7 trans-basin irrigation canals which cross the <br />drainage basin. <br /> <br />Land use m the Dry Creek basin has been primarily agricultural with the <br />exception of the Fort Collins area. During the last 40 years urban development has <br />grown extensively in the lower reach below U.S. Highway 287. Development has <br />obliterated the Dry Creek channel, especially near College AVenue. The land use <br />immediately downstream from College Avenue is primarily residential, with <br />commercial development along College Avenue. Near the confluence, land use <br />includes commercial and light industrial dcvdupmt;:nl. This area is commonly <br />referred to as the Fort Collins Airpark. <br /> <br />2.' <br />
