<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />RECREA TIO:O; <br /> <br />There are extensive recreational resources in the city and vicinity of Fort Collins. <br />The City has a highly developed park system. There are currently 33 parks, 17.8 <br />miles ofrccrcational trails, 13 open-space areas, seven recreation facilities, and 45 <br />holes of golf (City of Fort Collins' Parks and Recreation Master Plan, adopted <br />February 1988) in the Cily'sparks and recreation system. Additionally, the Cilyhas <br />the permission of the Poudre School District to use school facilities for City <br />recreation programs. <br /> <br />Of the City's 33 parks, 25 are fully developed, comprising 450 acres. <br />Recreational development is planned at three additional parks. <br /> <br />The City has three developed trails. They are the Foothills Trail (5.8 miles), the <br />Poudre River Trail (1 miles), and the Spring Crcck Trail (5 miles). The latter two <br />trails are paved. <br /> <br />The City has 13 properties identified as. open space. These properties comprise <br />approximately 978 acre.>. Most of these open spaces include water features. <br /> <br />The service areas of four City parks ern:ompass parts of the Dry Creek flood <br />plain. These are Lee Martinez Community Park, with a service radius of 114 mile; <br />and AHa Vista and Romero Mini Parks, wlticb are located ....ithin the Dry Creek <br />flood plain. Lee Martinez Park is located west of Dry Creek. Greenbriar Park is <br />located east of Dry Creek and is undeveloped. <br /> <br />3-9 <br /> <br />r <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />There are no City-owned parcels of open space and no City trails within the Dry <br />Creek flood plain. The Poudre River Trail and adjoining open spaces are located <br />from 1f2 10 I mile west of Dry Creek. <br /> <br />The City of Fort Collins Parks and Recreation Master Plan evaluated existing <br />recreation facilities, and prescnl and future recreational needs. The plan, which was <br />adopted in 1988, proposes several improvements which could affcct the Dry Creek <br />basin. These include a community park and neighborhood park north of the basin, <br />open space along the Cache La Poudre River, and a trail connecting the Poudre <br />River Trail with urban growthprojecte.d IOdevtlop inthenortheaslern sa:tion of the <br />Fort Collins area. <br /> <br />NORlHEAST AREA TRANSPORTATION PLAN <br /> <br />A transportll.lion study for the Nonheast area of thc City of Fort Coilins was <br />prepared in ]992 by a Citizens Advisory Committee for the City of Fort Collins. This <br />tr.lJtsportation study addresses a variet)' of transportation problcms and develops <br />conceptual solutions and recommendations. A principal city arterial called the <br />Northeast Arterial is proposed 10 function as a downtown bypass (or truCk traffic. <br />Several locations were developed and are primarily located in the Dry Creek Basin. <br />The City Council has not reached a decision on the alternative for the northeast <br />arterial projcct, formcrly known as the Fort Collins Bypass. <br /> <br />).10 <br /> <br />. <br />
