Unefficial seurces reported tetal <br />precipitatien for the latter sterm as follows: vicinity ef , <br />Hickman, Nebraska, 0.90inch;' and 2.37 inches on the west.branch <br />ef Salt Creek in the vicinities ef. Sprague and Kramer, Nebraska.! <br />. The runoff ef excess surface waters evertaxed Salt Creek Channel <br />and fleeding resulted. <br /> <br />2.. Extent.- Mederate general flo,oding eQcurred aleng the <br />'entire. length ef the, west branch of Salt Creek and its tributaries <br />upstream frem South Street in Linceln, Nebraska. The floeding.en <br />Haines Branch and Stevens Creek was rather severe. No, overbank <br />flow eccurred along Salt Creek below Linceln. <br /> <br />3. Duration.- The west branch of Salt Creek and its tributaries <br />began ever flowing their banks at 6:00 a.m., 18 June.and wer.e back <br />in banks by 8:00 p.m.. the same. day. The fleeds'onHaines Branch <br />and Stevens 'Creek were ef a. flashy nature and only lasted about. <br />3 heurs. <br /> <br />4. Sta~es and dischar~es~- ~ crest stage ef 36.7 feet <br />eccurred at the Linceln Sanitary Distri~" sewage dispesal plant <br />at 5:00 p.m., 18 July.. <br /> <br />5. Dama~es.- Fleod losses were, for the mest part, confined <br />to, creplands that had been floeded en 1-2 June. Appreximately <br />6,959 acres ef agricultural land were flooded to, shallow' depth <br />berere any replanting had. been. done after, the earlier ,.fleed. ..1he <br />refieeding effectively remeved the area frem corn preductien for <br />this season;,however, forage sorghum and legume creps were planted. <br />Crop damages were estimated en this basis. High stage en Beals' Slough <br />inundated 3 small business places in the vicinityef the Nebraska <br />State Penitentiary and flceded the boiler reom teshallaw depth. <br />The west branch ef Salt Creek overtepped U. S. HighWay 71 abo,ut <br />9 miles so,uth ef Linceln and clesed the highway to, traffic fer <br />.5 heurs.
