<br />At Briggs Street on the north side of town, the flood e~ceeds the bridge
<br />capacity and flows ovcr the ro~d. The major portion of the flow crosses
<br />Briggs Street on the east side of the btidge where the road profile is nearly
<br />level with the floodplain. Appro~imately 3000 cfs flows through the brldge
<br />and 9280 cfs flows Over the road.

<br />Downstream from Briggs Strcet (Plate-3). the Coal Creek channel bends
<br />northwesterly and flows through a bridge under the Burlington Northe<n <ail-
<br />road. However, since most of the flood water is already in the flOodplain
<br />area on the cast side of the channel, most of the ~3ter by-passes the bridge.
<br />Approximately 1950 efa flows through the bridge and 10,320 da flows along
<br />the cast side of the railroad to anothcr bridge located 3700 feet north. A
<br />separate reference line labeled "East Line" has been provided for this H>.!leh.
<br />Therailroaddesigne..apparentlyrealizedthispotentialfordilridedflows
<br />and provided a 93 foot long bridge at this location.
