The town is
subject to flooding from two streams, North Fork of the
Gunnsion River and Henson Creek. I feel that Henson Creek
poses an immediate flooding threat. In addition, the town has
experienced flooding from the creek in the past.

2914E

The USDA-SCS' February, 1987 snow report indicates an
above-average snowpack for the subject basins. The existing
levee system does not provide much flood protection to the
town. Under the Corps new PL 84-99 provisions, the town may be
eligible for levee repair and emergency assistance funds. From
our engineering investigations, a feasible project does exist
which will provide the community with direct benefits to life
and property. A copy of the town's letter reguest is
enclosed. If you need additional information, I will be happy
to respond.

Sincerely,

...,
/~
/
'~~'L h' f
Larry . ang, P'~" C Ie
Floo Control and Floodplain
Management Section

LFL/gl

Enclosure
cc: Michelle Pierce, Lake City
Len Boulas, DODES
