iv

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

For the Hidden Lake Basin, the improvements downstream of Hidden
Lake are dependent, to a degree, upon the improvements to the dam and
spillway, since the lowering of the spillway crest will allow the
storm runoff to be released from the reservoir more frequently than
the current operations. The present development plans for the reach
below Hidden Lake, plus the severity of the flow splitting problem at
64th and 66th Avenues, however, mean that immediate benefits can be
accrued from improvements in this reach. Therefore, the reach from
Hidden Lake to Clear Creek is recommended for construction first.
The Hidden Lake dam and spillway improvements should be constructed
next.
For the Bates Lake Planning Basin, the improvement~ can be
constructed according to the priorities within Arvada, since the
benefits from the improvements can still be realized even with increased
construction and financing costs and are independent of construction
sequence.
Certain legal questions and the actual administration of Hidden
Lake need to be resolved, at least in concept, prior to any actual
construction on segments of the Hidden Lake Planning Basin.
The floodplains in the lower reaches of Bates Lake and Hidden
Lake delineated by this study were found to overlap the floodplains
of Clear Creek and Ralston Creek. For details of the floodplains for
Clear Creek and Ralston Creek, contact the Urban Drainage and Flood
Control District.
