<br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br /> <br />AUTHORITY <br /> <br />This report is presented as a supplement to the "Water and <br />Related Land Resources Management Study for Metropolitan Denver, <br />Volume V, Appendix H - Hydrology," revised January 1980. This <br />report was prepared by the Omaha District Corps of Engineers with <br />Fiscal Year 1986 funding and was conducted under the authority of <br />Section 22, Planning Assistance to States, of Public Law 93-251, <br />Water Resources Development Act of 1974. Section 22 provides the <br />authority for Corps of Engineers cooperation with the State for <br />assistance in preparing Comprehensive State Water Plans for the <br />development, use, and conservation of available water resources. <br />This assistance to the State of Colorado was accomplished through <br />a coordinated effort with the Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />(CWCB) at their request. This effort has provided the State of <br />Colorado with a capability that serves to assist them in the <br />administration of the State's Floodplain Management Program. <br /> <br />SCOPE AND OBJECTIVE <br /> <br />The primary objective of this planning assistance is to <br />coordinate the preparation of a "Compendium of Hydrologic <br />Information" for the State of Colorado. Information to be <br />included in this compendium was listed in correspondence dated <br />July 30, 1986, from the Colorado Water Conservation Board: <br /> <br />compile a list of all significant historical rainfall- <br />runoff events <br /> <br />develop isohyetal maps for the major historical storms <br /> <br />prepare discharge-probability profiles for studied <br />streams <br /> <br />investigate elevation-rainfall-runoff characteristics <br />for foothill streams <br /> <br />Preparation of the compendium is being coordinated by the Omaha <br />District to include all data from Sacramento District, <br />Albuqerque District, Omaha District, the State of Colorado, and <br />other agencies. <br /> <br />The Corps' publication entitled '~ater and Related Land <br />Resources Management Study, Volume V, Appendix H-Hydrology," <br />revised January 1980 wi 11 be used as a guide for this compendium. <br /> <br />Status <br /> <br />Due to funding constraints, the effort to complete this <br />compendium was initiated in FY 86 and will be completed in FY 87. <br />The FY 86 effort consisted of compiling a list of all significant <br />historical rainfall-runoff events.
