I N V I TAT ION TO POT E N T I ALP R 0 IE C T

PARTNERS IN MULTI-OBJECTIVE PLANNING

Dear

An informal meeting will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. January 13, 1994, in Yankton on the second floor of City Hall at
5th and Walnut in the City Commission Chambers to discuss a pilot Multi-objective Hazard Mitigation (MOHM) planning
workshop. The purpose of the meeting will be to:

. assess the relative interests of two areas (the Vermillion River Basin and the City of Yankton)
for hosting and participating in the MOHM workshop; and

. identify interested individuals and organizations to participate in the MOHM workshop.

After the meeting, project partners will view the two potential planning areas, select a site for the pilot MOHM workshop,
and begin its detailed organization. The area selected to host the workshop will be requested to fully participate in the plan-
ning effort, provide meeting space, and share information about the workshop and resulting plan locally. There are no other
anticipated local costs for hosting the workshop. The plan that will be developed during the workshop will be based upon
and reflect local interests. If well received, we hope to cosponsor additional similar workshops in the future.

Enclosed are an agenda for our meeting on the 13th and a description of the MOHM workshop proposed for March.

Please plan to attend the meeting next week. Invitations to this meeting are limited and non-attendance of you or your
authorized representative would greatly limit our ability to assess your interests in the proposed MOHM planning workshop.

[signed]

.
