Stream gaging records are not available for Wolf <br />Creek at Granada. However, reports indicate that there was flooding at <br />Granada from Wolf Creek in ~ay 1918, September 1920, July 1925, July 1935, <br />May 1936, June 1949, May 1951, May 1958, and June 1965. Descriptions of <br />notable floods follow. <br />4. Flood of 11-12 July 1935. The July 1935 flood is the earliest <br />for which a discharge estimate is available. This storm was described <br />as a cloud burst that produced rainfall amounts in excess of 8 inches <br />over an area of 20 to 25 square miles. The most intense of this rainfall <br />occurred in a period of from one-half to one and one-half hours. The <br />peak discharge for this storm from Wolf Creek was estimated as 14,000 <br />c.f.s. at Granada which inundated the main street of the city to a depth <br />of three and one-half feet. This storm also produced an estimated peak <br />of 31,000 c.f.s. on Granada Creek about 3 miles downstream. Eight lives <br />were reported to have been lost as a result of the flood on Granada Creek. <br />5. Flood of 3-5 June 1949, Intense rainfall during the period 3-5 <br />June produced flooding on Wolf Creek at Granada and resulted in a peak <br />flow in excess of 10,000 c.f.s. The maximum 24-hour precipitation on <br />4 June was 4.45 inches at Granada with 1.27 inches in 1 hour and 1.81 <br />inches in 2 hours.
