Lile, P.E.
Director, Colorado Conservation Board
1313 Sherman St., Rm 721
Denver, CO 80203

Dear Mr. Lile

I ask that you accept this correspondence as a letter of request
for the Conservation's assistance in addressing a drainage issue
as it applies to the Town of San Luis.

As you are aware, there is a critical flood and sub-drainage
problem in the central and southern section of the Town. The
drainage problems in the central portions of the Town impacts
businesses, streets, residences and the Cultural Center which is a
major economic resource to the community. In a letter dated April
8, 1993, you stated that the Board staff would prepare a
reconnaissance study for the Town which would outl ine various
options. I understand that Mr. Charles Manzanares was to
coord i nate the study. I have succeeded Mr. Manzanares as Town
Administrator and have been unable to locate information with
regards to this particular study or any information concerning
options.

Mr. Lile, this correspondence comes to you as a result of having
received numerous complaints from homeowners whose basements and
crawl spaces are being flooded. They request that action be taken
soon as they have already expended thousands of dollars for home
repairs as a result of sub water drainage. Sir, there have been
threats of litigation: an unnecessary action, in my estimation, for
an issue such as thi s. I thank you, in advance, for your
cooperation and look forward to hearing from you in the very near
future.

Respectfully

~~

Mariam K.
