PLEASANT VIEH ~lASTER DRAIKAGE STUDY

PHASE A

SECTION I

INTRODUCTION

This Master Drainage Study is within an area of Jefferson County ca.lled
Pleasant View. The area studied is bounded on the North by South Table
Mountain, on the South by Old Golden Road, on the East by Lena Gulch, and
on the West by Ulysses Street (extended).

This area was subdivided in the late 1950's and early 1960's. At that
time drainage reports for land subdivision were not a requirement of
platting by the County. As a result, many residences within the study
area have been flooded or still may be flooded by stann runoff. Flooding
conditions are created by snow melt or modE~rate rainfall in the area due
to inadequate capacity of the drainage channel. The scope of work for
this study was to compile information from residents pertaining to existing
I ~.flooding problems, prepare alternate solutipns to eliminate flood caused
damages, and prepare cost evaluations of tllose alternates.

~

Citizen input was of major concern duri.ng the alternate solution formula-
tions, and several meetings with intere.sted residents t....ere held in the
field and in the office. As a result the study has proceeded with the
affected residents' suggestions and opi.nions in mind. This report con-
tains the recommendations of the Engineering Department and Legal Depart-
ment and was forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners for their re-
view and action. The final design and construction dra"ings will be pre- V'
pared for the alternates selected at the direction of the Board..

I
