<br />Regarding our conversations over the past fev months concern-
<br />ing a project evaluation of' vater availability on the Ute Mountain
<br />Reservation I am happy to report that my people vill enthusiastically
<br />embrace such an undertaking.
<br />
<br />As you know f'or many months now we have been vorking on economic
<br />develOlJreent :;;r'oj,-cts 1..,'re at Towacc and the outlying areas of' the
<br />reservation. Each project has been drastically slowed down by the
<br />lack of' hydrology reports especially alternatives.
<br />
<br />One of the major projects now underway is the Mancos Canyon Indian
<br />Park. In this area ve have encountered tremendous stumbling blocks due
<br />to the lack of information concerning vater and alternative delivery
<br />services, furthermore our agriculture base on the reservation has been
<br />primarily cattle raising. In my opinion a project such as you suggest
<br />will greatly broaden the thinking of the Ute Mountain People, i.e.
<br />their thinking toward irrigation, nev vater supplies, etc.

<br />As I stated earlier, ve vholeheartedly support your proposal and
<br />ve pledge our entire support to you and your colleagues in this matter.
