Statement of the Problem <br /> <br />Unfortunately for the Utes, the ecological conditions of the reduced <br /> <br />reservation area are harsh and not amenable to easy economic success. <br /> <br />fin extremely limited water resource demands that critical care be given <br />to its present utilization as lIell as a systematic anu serious evaluation <br /> <br />be given to alternative means of providing economic viabil ity for the <br /> <br />people involved. It is urgent tilat tile limitations and potential of <br /> <br />this reservation be evaluated in the near future so as to ensure that <br /> <br />through appropriate means the reservation ami its people be allowed to <br /> <br />secure tileir future. <br /> <br />Presently, the evidence suggests that such security can best be <br /> <br />attained through a careful integration of \"later resource utilization and <br /> <br />the development of tourism on the Reservation. III the case of the <br /> <br />latter, within the confines of the Reservation is located the t.iancos <br /> <br />Canyon area (see Fig. 2).
