Previous Studies
Separate flood hazard maps were originally prepared for unincorporated Adams County and the
larger incorporated areas during the mid 1970's, with several revisions since that time. Table 2
shows the history of maps in each community, Except where noted by Revision or LOMR, the
countywide FIS directly incorporates information from the most recent FIS study for each
community.
Communitv Response to the CWCB Desienation and Approval Process
A letter from the CWCB was transmitted to Adams County and each of the incorporated areas
covered under the FIS regarding the Board's proposed action for designation and approval of the
Adams County FIRMs,

Adams County indicated that there have been minimal problems in the county, However, this is
primarily because there has not been significant precipitation events in past years, Floodplain
mapping needs are generally limited to the areas receiving development pressure, In addition,
the county currently has a consulting firm under contract to study Comanche Creek, and will
continue to study streams in the eastern portion of the county in future years, Adams County was
receptive to the Board's proposed designation action, and sent an official letter requesting that
the CWCB designate and approve the floodplain information currently available to the
communities, Adams County did not see a need to have a meeting with the CWCB regarding
this matter. Copies of the request letter are included in the Appendix of this report,

Because designation of the Adams County incorporated areas will take place under separate
resolution (resolution no. 00-527), the request letters and community responses for the
incorporated areas are contained in a separate document contained in the file for that resolution,
