WHEREAS, a floodplain information report ,entitled "Flood
Hazard Area Delineation, Weir Gulc~ Tributaries, 1st Avenue -
<:;:"tt Dakota Avenue, Lakewood and Denver I Colorado," dated July, 1977,
has been prepared by Centennial Enqineering, Inc., at the request
of the Urban Drainage and FlOOd coptrol District, the city of
Lakewood, Colorado, and the City aOd County of Denver, ColoradO;

WHEREAS, said report desc:ribes and outlines the flood-'
plain data and information for the storm and floodwater runoff
channels Or ba~ins of the study ar~a; and

WHER~~S, the Urban Drain~ge and Flood Control District
has requested the Colorado Water conservation Board to designate
and approve th~ flOodplain areas as set forth in the aforesaid
report; and

WHEReAS, Section 37-60-106(1), Colorado 'Revised St.atutes
1973, requires the ColoradO Water conservation Board to assist in ,
'the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and,

WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-201 and 30-28-111, co~orado
Revised Statutes 1973, provide that such legislative bodies of
lOcal jurisdictions may provide zoning regulations for~and uses
on or along any storm or floodwater runoff charmel' o:t;:"basin only
after designation and approval by the ColoradO Water'Conservation
Board; and

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1) (c), COlorado Reqised
Statutes 1973, directs the Colorado Water Conservation Soard to
designate aro_apPI_o.v:e....stoJ:'ffi-Gr-f--l-eedwater-runorf channe~s or basins
and to make such designations available to legislative pOdies of
local jurisdictions; and

WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has reviewed said report
and does hereby recommend to the colorado Water Conservation Board
that the Board designate and approve as floodplain areas those
