TO: All Flood Insurance Study Contractors

FROM: C. A. Lindsey
Government Technical Representative

SUBJECT: Common Deficiencies in the Presentation of Flood Insurance Studies

The following is a list of common errors and deficiencies that have been dis-
covered during the review of Flood Insurance Studies recently submitted to
FlA. This list represents items most commonly noted by the Technical Evaluation
Contractors (TECs) in the Review Comments, and additional data that is currently
being requested by the TEes so that all published Flood Insurance Studies
meet current FIA guidelines and specifications.

I. Narrative

A.

Section 1.2: This section was not meant to be a discussion of
the sources of information used. The criteria
used in most cases are current and projected development.

Identify all areas excluded from study and coordinate these
areas with the Vicinity Map and FIRM!FBFW maps.

,/

Also, indicate the specific future time period for which fore-
casted development was considered in determining which flooding
sources Were to be studied by detailed methods.
