<br />The information in Table 10 is easier to understand if it is considered in three <br />parts. The first part, lines 1 and 2, represent the HMR 55A local storm PMP <br />values obtained from the PMP Plates includl3d in HrvJR 55A (line 1) and the <br />elevation reduced Plate values prepared by BV. BV requested a site-specific <br />PMP from HMS which utilized both the standard HMH 55A methodology with <br />some consultant interpretation when transposing storms to high elevation sites. <br />Line 3, HMRMVL, represents the site-specific local storm PMP values obtained <br />by HMS using the in-place maximization, and elevation adjustment of the <br />Masonville, CO historic storm following the HMH 55A methodology. Since the <br />Masonville storm study created concern with the storm observations of rainfall, <br />HMS included the maximized and transposed next heaviest storm, the Cheyenne <br />storm, as HMRCYS in Line 4. Finally, HMSPMP refms to the HMS PMP storm <br />calculated using the Convective Storm Methodology operating on the LOGal <br />Storm PMP Atmosphere. The per cent difference in the last line, % Diff, is the <br />difference in the HMSPMP and the HMR-based Masonville local storm PMP <br />values, HMRMVL, for the incremental time periods. <br /> <br />Comparing the results suggests that differences between the site-specifiG PMP <br />calculated using the HMR 55A methodology and the HMS Convective Storm <br />Methodologyexist. However, both approaches result in a substantial reduGtion <br />from the PMP values obtained off the HMR ~j5l" PMP Plates. In many ways the <br />site-specific values are more similar than different. Most important, however, <br />is the fact that the general storm PMP values are larger than the loc;al storm <br />values for all time periods. The HMS geneml stolrm is the controllin'9 storm <br />when considering designs for water storage structures. <br /> <br />The general storm PMP values are summarized in Table 11 below with tile <br />following meaning for the abbreviations: <br /> <br />55APlate: General storm PMP values obtained off the HMR 55A Plates, <br /> <br />HMSAABEM: The site-specific PMP VaIUE!S obtained by HMS in maximizing <br />precipitation in place, transposing, and elevation adjusting the historic Bi9 Elk <br />Meadow storm rainfall using the HMR 55A methodology, <br /> <br />HMSSSCOM: The site-specific PMP values obtained by HMS by Gombining the <br />1-hour Frijole Creek PMP value, the Big Thompson Canyon 6-hour PMP value, <br />and carrying the difference at 6-hours from the Big Elk Meadow values through <br />the rest of the Big Elk Meadow incremental PMP values. <br /> <br />HMSCSMPMP: The site-specific PMP computed using the HMS CSrvJ and <br />General Storm PMP Atmosphere methodology. <br /> <br />42 <br />
