<br />HMS is concerned that the Masonville rainfall may be an over-estimate based on <br />the research which follows. HMR 55A estimates this storm as 8.1 inches of <br />rain in 1 hour at a co-operative observation site. Sketchy personal <br />observations estimate 7 inches of rain fell in about 30 minutes or less, <br />HMS examined the storm archives of the Bureau of Reclamation and obtained <br />the surface weather observations and aircraft vertical temperature and moisture <br />soundings taken for support of the US Postal Service air mail routes out of <br />Cheyenne, Wyoming for several days surrounding the 1938 event Cheyenne is <br />located about 60 miles north of the Masonville storm site, <br /> <br />27 <br />
