On May 15th, the water supply pipe, from Oak Creek Reservoir,
was damaged by mud slides. In addition, the earthen dam broke, releasing all
water from the reservoir. A pump and hose system was set up downstream to
pump water directly from Oak Creek into the supply pipe. This system is
not reliable and cannot provide Oak Creek with its usual amount of water.

Until a more substantial supply system can be established, water conservation
is vital, in order to provide water for essential purposes. This means
absolutely no outside use of water at any time. This rule will be enforced.

Also, it has become necessary to establish water use hours in order to maintain
a storage contingency, in case of fire, Until further notice, water will be
turned on from 6a.m. to lOa.m. and again, from 6p.m. to IOp.m. Notice, of
any change in this policy, will be posted around town and announced on the
radio. Please be alert for these notices.

Bottles of drinking water are still available at town hall and the water
tanker remains located at the AG Market. If you need asssistance, due to the
water shortage, call town hall at 2422 or 8231.

Thanks to all of you who have helped out during our crisis - you were great!
The town is looking to the state and federal governments for funding for repair
and clean-up work, but this assistance nas not been forthcoming. If you wish
to be of further help, we urge you to write, concerning the seriousness of our
situation, to one or all of the persons listed below:

The Honorable Richard D.
