/ t
,.
c.

j::

WSP-2

The Water Surface Profile (WSP-2) is a standard step method with some
modifications. All profiles are computed in an upstream direction,
therefore, only subcritical flow is analyzed. When critical or super-
critical flow occurs, critical flow conditions are assumed and used for
further computations. Bureau of Public Roads Procedures as outlined in
"Hydraulics of Bridge Waterways" is used for hydraulic computations
through bridges. Weir flow over a road is computed using a weir
coefficient of 2.70. The weir coefficient used for flow over a bridge
is 3.03 with an orfice coefficient of 0.78. The attached table gives
hydraulic roughness coefficients (n-values) selected for computing
energy losses for open channel flow by mannings equation. Each cross
section is subdivided into segments with common roughness coefficients.
Hydraulics are computed by segment then summed for the total cross
section.

>.~
