The frequency of <br />dissemination of the statement will be the decision of the <br />Mayor/City Council/County Commissioners. The City Manager should <br />actually issue the statement on behalf of the Mayor during a flood <br />emergency. The Otero County Emergency Coordinator and American Red <br />Cross (if necessary) should be informed of the statement to be <br />issued. <br /> <br />Statement <br /> <br />This is (Name, La Junta City Manager). At (time, date), the <br /> <br />National Weather Service Office in Denver announced a flood stage <br /> <br />for the Arkansas River at La Junta at (time, date). The River is <br /> <br />expected to peak at (La Junta gage reading in feet) at (time, date) <br /> <br /> <br />in La Junta. We expect the flood to reach La Junta at (time, date). <br /> <br /> <br />** (If necesssary) - In addition, Sheriff's Deputies have <br /> <br /> <br />spotted high flows at (King, Anderson, etc.), which will increase <br /> <br /> <br />the flood peak. <br /> <br /> <br />All people in (name of color zone(s)) are advised to raise and <br /> <br /> <br />remove contents of their properties, and/or evacuate (immediately <br /> <br />or by time, date) to (name of shelters) for temporary shelter. In <br /> <br /> <br />the event you choose not to go to the shelter, please call the <br /> <br /> <br />American Red Cross at in Canon City at 254-3322 so that we know you <br /> <br />are safe. <br /> <br />We will keep you informed throughout this flood event and will <br /> <br />update this announcement as new information becomes available. <br /> <br />REPEAT the statement at least once more. <br /> <br />B-1 <br />
