The required inputs are division 2 and station 1
followed by an asterisk (*). However, a large flood event may
wash the gage away, so keep this in mind.

As previously stated, there is approximately 23 - 42
hours of travel time for a flood crest at Pueblo to reach the
City of La Junta. By calling the hotline (updated every 4
hours), this information may be useful in establishing a flood
travel time.

In addition, the Colorado Division of Water Resources in
Pueblo has responsibility for this gage, and can also provide
stage and other information. Their phone number is 719-542-
3368.

I
I

4. identify the
purposes of warning
selection of emergency

Level of Threat (next Section)
dissemination (Section 4) and
response actions {Section 5\ .

for
for

3.6 Levels of Flood Threat

I
I

The 100-year and SPF floodplains developed in the
Special Flood Hazard Information Report (reference 1) for the
Arkansas River at La Junta are used to identify the levels of
flood threat. In addition, using the developed data from the
report, the 25-year floodplain was also plotted and is
included as a "Level of Threat". Flows between 10-year and
25-year flood event are identified as LEVEL 1 and shown as a
RLLOW zone. Flows from the 25 to 100-year event are
identified as LEVEL 2 and shown as a RED zone.
