WHEREAS. a report entitled "Flood Insurance Study. Town
of Silverton and Unincorporated Areas of San 'Juan county. Colorado."
which includes floodplain information and data for the Animas River.
Mineral Creek and Cement Creek. dated March. 1978, has been pre-
pared by Camp Dresser & McKee. Inc.. under contract with the Federal
Insurance Administration; and .

WHEREAS, said report describes and outlines the floodplain
data and information for the storm and floodwater runoff channels or
basins of the study area; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Silverton and the Board of County
Commissioners of San Juan County have requested the Colorado water
Conservation Board to designate and approve the floodplain areas as
set forth in the aforesaid report; and

WHEREAS. section 37-60-106(1), Colorado Revised Statutes
1973. requires the Colorado Water Conservation Board to assist in
the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and

WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-201 and 30-28-111, Colorado
Revised Statutes 1973. provide that such legislative bodies of local
jurisdictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or
along any storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after
designation and approval by the Colorado Water Conservation Board;
and

WHEREAS. Section 37-60-106(1) (c). Colorado Revised Statutes
1973, directs the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate and
approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to make
such designations available to legislative bodies of local jurisdic-
tions; and

WHEREAS. the staff of the Board has reviewed said report
and does hereby recommend to the ColoradQ Water Conservation Beard
that the Board designate and approve as floodplain areas those areas
inundated by a 100-year flood (intermediate regional flood) as des-
cribed by the floodwater surface elevations and prOfiles in said
report:

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Colorado Water
Conservation Board in regular meeting assembled in Montrose. Colo-
rado this 12th day of May. 1978, that it does hereby designate and
approve as floodplain areas those areas described as being inundated
by a 100-year flood as set forth in said report; and
