As <br />shown in FIgure 11.1, the two basins are primarily east of <br />rnterstate 25 with a majority of the contributing area north <br />and east of Academy Boulevard. The general direction of flow <br />through these watersheds Is southwest. The hIghest elevation <br />occurs :In the northeastern corner of the PC basin at 7,400 feet <br />with a slope of approximately 22%. Elevation at the confluence <br />to Monument Creek is 6,280 feet. Average slopes throughout the <br />basins are approximately 3 to 5%. <br /> <br /> <br />For purposes of this study, the PC basin has been defined as <br />that arE!a of the watershed contributing to flow accumulatIng in <br />the Pine Creek Channel at the culvert crossIng under Academy <br />Boulevard (point P8 on Figure 10.1). Total area of thIs basin <br />is 5.0 square miles. Consisting of broad sloping plains and <br />rolling hills, this area is virtually undeveloped at the <br />present time. Vegetated with native grasses, it has <br />historIcally been used for ranching operations. <br /> <br />The remainder of the watershed has been desIgnated the peT <br />basin. Total area of this southern basin is 4.99 square miles. <br />It is slightly lower in elevation than the PC basin but also <br />consists of sloping plains and rolling hills. Aggressive <br />development has occurred in this area over the past 5-10 years. <br />Many commercial interests are now located along Academy <br />Boulevard, the largest of these being the Chapel Hills Mall <br />complex. Several office parks have been built north of the <br />Mallon Jamboree DrIve and Jamboree Circle. The eastern and <br />northern portions of the basin are residential; there is still <br />quite a bit of open space existing in these areas in the form <br />of desig,nated parkland and undeveloped lots. <br /> <br />1,4 <br /> <br />R€~OURC€ CON~UlTI\NT~ INC <br />
