In previous FEMA studies, this drainage
was known as "Spring Rurl." In order to clarify it from the
true Spring Run to the north, the name "Fishers Canyon," which
appears on USGS topographIc maps, has been adopted.

I

I

I

Similar to both Spring Run and Cheyenne Run, this basin
originates on steep western slopes and flows eastward to
Fountain Creek. Upper elevations exceed 9,000 feet with slopes
of up to 55%. The lower elevations in the eastern section near
Interstate 25 are down to 5,800 feet with slopes of 4 to 5%.
With averages slopes of 1.5 to 3%, the most level part of the
basIn Is the area referred to as Cheyenne Meadows, which is
along the main stream channel between Loomis Avenue and State
Highway 115.

I

I

Total area of the watershed is 5.3 square miles. Most
development is limited to the lower areas as the western slopes
are quite steep. The Broadmoor SkI Area is located within this
basin; the majority of the land west of it is undeveloped. The
lower areas are close to being fully developed with residential
dwellings the primary land use.

I

I

I

22

R€~OURC€ CON~UlTI\NT~ INC

I
