Construction of the levees and appurtenant <br />facilities, Las Animas, Colorado Project was begun on 24 February <br />1977 and completed 17 June 1978 under Contract No. DACW47-77-C- <br />0010 by the Sherwood Construction Company, Inc., P.O. Box 994, <br />Wichita, Kansas 67201. The project was accepted for operation <br />and maintenance by the Arkansas River Conservancy District as of <br />17 June 1978, by letter dated 25 August 1978. <br /> <br />1-07. Local Cooperation Requirements. The specific local <br />cooperation requirements for the Las Animas Flood Control Project <br />are contained in Agreement Between tl~ United States of America <br />and the Arkansas River Conservancy District, Las Animas, Bent <br />County, Colorado, for Cooperation With the United States of <br />America in Flood Control Works, signed on 20 July 1973.
