attended by representatives of Howard, Needles, Tammen & Bergendoff;
FEMA; and the Town of Castle Rock. No changes or corrections were
required as a result of this meeting.

For the Douglas County Flood Insurance Study, a meeting was held
on April 10, 1984 to determine priority study reaches. The meeting
was attended by representatives of FEMA, the Colorado Water COnser-
vation Board (CWCB), UDFCD, the COunty Planning Department, the
Soil Conservation Service (SCS), and J.F. Sato and Associates,
Inc. The study area was modified subsequently at the direction of
the Natural and Technological Hazards Division of FEMA in late
April 1985 to include additional reaches to be studied by approxi-
mate methods. The final scope of study was reviewed with Douglas
County Planning and Engineering staff at a September 17, 1984
meeting.

An intermediate community coordination meeting was held July 29,
1985 to discuss the findings of the revised study. Representa-
tives of FEMA, CWCB, ooFCD, the Douglas County Planning Depart-
ment, the Town of Castle Rock, and the study contractor were
present.

On December 15, 1986, the results of the revised study were
discussed at the final community coordination meeting, which was
attended by representatives of FEMA, the study contractor, and the
community. All significant problems raised at that meeting have
been addressed in this study.

2.0 AREA STUDIED

2.1 Scope of Study

This Flood Insurance Study covers the incorporated area of the
Town of Castle Rock, Douglas County, Colorado. The area of study
is shown on the Vicinity Map (Figure 1).

Flooding caused by East Plum Creek, Hangmans Gulch, Sellers Gulch,
Unnamed Tributary to Sellers Gulch, and Cherry Creek was studied
by detailed methods.

The areas studied by detailed methods were selected with priority
given to all known flood hazard areas and areas of projected develop-
ment or proposed construction through August 1990.

McMurdo Gulch, Mitchell Gulch, Section 34 Tributary, Tributary D,
6400 South Tributary, and 6400 Tributary East and West Forks were
studied by approximate methods because of small drainage areas and
limited flood plains.

2
