Parts <br />of the drainage basin, though not developed now, will be in the near future. <br />Viele Lake in the upper basin has a significant flood storage capacity and <br />has minimized local flood damage. FIeld investigations of the May, 1969, <br />flood showed that in the lower Viele Channel basin, the Denver-Boulder Turn- <br />pike was overtopped and traffic halted for more than a .day. Uncontrolled <br />future development within the basin will only increase the flood damage <br />potential. <br /> <br />David's Draw basin is largely undeveloped at present.
