Sparks, Director <br />Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board <br />823 State Centennial Building <br />1313 Sherman Street <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Sparks: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A report describing the flood hazard along the Dolores River in the vicinity of <br />Dolores, Montezuma County, and along the lower reaches of Lost Canyon Creek and <br />the West Dolores River, is inclosed, This report was prepared in response to your <br />20 May 1976 letter and an original request from the Montelores Planning Group. Fifty <br />copies of the report will be sent directly to the Planning Group. <br /> <br />The report includes discussion of the nature of flooding in the area studied, <br />descriptive data on the laO-year flood in that area, maps (scale 1 inch = 400 feet) <br />showing areas subject to 100-year flooding, profiles showing the elevations the 100- <br />year flood is expected to reach, and a brief explanation of the methodology of <br />deriving the magnitude of the laO-year flood. Reproducible maps (scale 1 inch = 200 <br />feet) showing the limits of the laO-year flood have been furnished directly to <br />Montezuma County. <br /> <br />Detailed information on the hydrologic study basic to the report is contained in an <br />Office Memorandum entitled "Dolores River above Dolores, Colorado-Flood <br />Hazard Information Hydrology," That memorandum has been furnished to the Water <br />Conservation Board and it may be reviewed in this office. <br /> <br />Section 206 of the 1960 Flood Control Act, as amended, provided the authority under <br />which the inclosed report was prepared.
