<br />INVESTIGATION OF CROOK PHOBLEMS <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />AUTHORITY <br /> <br />On June 23, 1980, a lettl3r waS sent to Governor Lamm by the Board <br /> <br />of Logan County Commissioners regarding the Tamara,ck Fish and Game <br /> <br />Reserves' , which is located along the South Platte RIver. The County <br /> <br />Commissioners felt the wildlife practices in the area could be caUSing a <br /> <br />flood problem in the Crook area. On June 24, 1980, a letter was sent to <br /> <br />Governor Lamm from Congressman James Johnson's office requesting that <br /> <br />the Governor send members of his staff to visit the sUe of the Crook <br /> <br />problem area to see If the State of Colorado was responsible for the flood <br /> <br />problems in the area. On August 25, 1980, Monte Pascoe, Executive <br /> <br />Director of the Department of Natural Resources, Jeris A. Danielson, State <br /> <br />Engineer of the Division of Water Resources, and Jack Grieb, Director of <br /> <br />the Division of Wildlife, went to Crook at the request of the Governor, to <br /> <br />meet with local officials. Following this meeting the Executive Director of <br /> <br />the Department of Natural Resources assigned the responsibility for the <br /> <br />investigation of the Crook problems to the State Engineer's Office. <br /> <br />'-PURPOSE AND SCOPE <br /> <br />It has been the purpose of this investiqation to determine if the <br /> <br />Division of Wildlife is responsible for creating flooding, increased aggredation <br /> <br />rates, and increased ground wat,sr levels a,s a result of their management <br /> <br />practices in the Tamarack Fish and Game Reserve. <br />
