Likewise, CWCB would be interested in FEMA funding <br />to support such maintenance in the 57 counties outside the UDFCD boundaries and within those <br />portions of 5 UDFCD counties that do not lie within the boundaries of the District. <br /> <br />For maintenance levels 1 through 3, updated flood hazards will be catalogued and tracked <br />electronically in accordance with the procedures outlined in the Availability and Uses of Digital <br />Data section and Appendix E. Flood hazards within the UDFCD will be catalogued and tracked <br />internally. <br /> <br />3.1.6 Quality Assurance I Quality Control <br /> <br />Quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) is an important component of producing <br />accurate flood hazard data. Currently the CWCB is coordinating the production of flood hazard <br />studies that have two review components. Data that is generated by CWCB contractors are <br />reviewed internally through established quality control procedures. This same data is then <br />reviewed in part by FEMA's national contractor, Michael BakerJr. All flood hazard data will be <br />subject to compliance with the CWCB's Rules and Regulations for Floodplains. <br /> <br />At this time the CWCB feels that this two-phased review process is adequate for the production <br />of flood hazard maps for Colorado. At the same time, there is a realization that the scope of the <br />projects that have been produced thus far will expand in the future (to include new hydrologic <br />and hydraulic studies), and that the role that FEMA asks Michael Baker Jr. to fulfill is currently <br />under negotiation. Due to these potential changes, the QNQC procedures may need to be <br />modified in the future to redefine the specific roles of the study partners such as: <br /> <br />. Increased or decreased reliance on Michael Baker Jr. <br /> <br />. Level of internal review by the CWCB <br /> <br />. Independent review from an additional CWCB engineering consultant <br /> <br />. Compliance with the CWCB Rules and Regulations for Floodplains <br /> <br />The need to modify our QNQC procedures will be evaluated on a study-by-study basis and this <br />Plan will be updated in the future to reflect any changes that may occur. Additionally, in <br />anticipation of potential changes we have included independent QNQC into our cost estimation <br />template presented in Appendix D to assist with future planning efforts. <br /> <br />3.1.7 Multi-Hazard Data <br /> <br />The CWCB has identified several types of hazard information throughout Colorado that would <br />be potentially available for incorporation into a statewide multi-hazard mapping effort. It must <br />be understood that all of this information is not necessarily available, in a digital or other format, <br />for public distribution; however, the Map Modernization effort will support the development of <br />multi-hazard data and build a framework to incorporate and store the data as it becomes available <br />in the future.
