<br />STUDY TO BE DESIGNATED <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, completed a floodplain <br />information report for Logan County, Sedgwick County, and the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board entitled "Special Flood Hazard Information Report, South Platte River, Volume ill, Logan <br />County-Sedgwick County, Colorado" dated June 1977; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said report dated June 1977 includes approximate floodplain information for <br />the South Platte River within Logan County and Sedgwick County; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the approximate information contained in said report dated June 1917 includes <br />various floodplain data for the South Platte River including IOO-year flood hydrology, flood <br />profiles, and elevation-discharge curves which are based on accepted engineering methods and <br />practices for approximate floodplain studies; and <br /> <br />FLOODPLAIN CONSISTENCY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the approximate floodplain information contained in said report dated June <br />1977 is inconsistent with the previously designated detailed floodplain information for the reaches <br />of the South Platte River as listed in Table I; and <br /> <br />LOCAL REQUEST FOR DESIGNATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Logan County and Sedgwick County, Colorado have requested the Colorado <br />Water Conservation Board to designate and approve the approximate floodplain information as set <br />forth in said report dated June 1977; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Logan County, Sedgwick County, and the City of Sterling have not requested the <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board to rescind any of the detailed floodplain information for the South <br />Platte River as listed in Table I; and <br /> <br />c.R.S. AUTHORITY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes, requires the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board to assist in the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-301 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised Statutes, provide that <br />legislative bodies of local jurisdictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or along any <br />storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after designation and approval by the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board; and <br /> <br />2 <br />
