The Loutsenhizer Canal is provided crossing of the three study
streams. The canal crosses both Dry Cedar' Creek and Cedar Creek in an
overhead flume. Montrose Arroyo is provided a culvert under the canal.
Whi 1 e the fl ume cross i ngs are adequate for a 11 storm frequenC'i es stu-
dies, the culvert will not pass the enUre 100 or 500,year storm runoff
quantities. These flows overtop the canal and intermingle with the
canal flow. Consistent with the general assumption of canals flowing
full, the ditch water is assumed to remain in the canal and Montrose
Arroyo runoff which overtops the canal bank is assumed to continue
downstream unimpeded. Thus, the two flow quantities are assumed not to
combine.

4
