Regardi ng Fi gure I I, th i s map was se 1 ected because 'it related the
city to the drai nageways. Use of th i s m.ap was di scussed in genera 1
terms at two meetings, and no objection was raised at that timE!. Since
the 5 year storm flows are contained within the channel areas, an
expanded scale would be of questionable value, particularly since all
work woul d be superceeded by the proposed urban dra i nage study,. We,
therefore, propose to use Figure II as is for the final report"
although the street flows which are not generated by drainageway flows
woul d be removed from the mappi ng. Such arrangement wi 11 be suffi ci ent
to indicate visually that the flows are confined to the main channel
area (please see revised map, enclosed).

Items 12, 13, 15

These items have no relevance to the hydraul'ics and therefore were
not included. They will be included in the final y'eport.

Item 14

The rational formula was used only to calculate flow at the 16
problem locations. Other appl ication is beyond the scope of work.

.

Item 16, 20

Either a table of flow values at the various locations or a
discharge profile as suggested will be inc'luded in the final report.

Item 17

This reservoir is shown on sheet 30,' of the mapping provided.
Total capacity is estimated at 2.5 A.F., based on a maximum depth, of
7.5 feet. The reservoir is located in the northeast 1/4 of section 3,
T48N, R9W.

Item 21

The HEC-2 backwater program requires that subsection segregation
occur at defi ned di git i zed coordi nates. Due to 1 ack of poi nta 1 dens ity
in the main channel area, flexibil ity in subsection definition was
1 imited. Overbank subsections are normally defined as commencing at
approximately equivalent elevations, at thl= point at which channel
character changes, i.e. where vegetati on., topography, or other impedi-
ments to flow are located. Due to lack of pointal density, point
selection was usually confined to only one alternative, to allow for
reasonable consistency as to location from one cross section to the
next.

Item 22

Figure 3 referred to on page 19 is Fi<Jure II in the Hydraulics
Addendum.

2
