The COE has published a Flood Plain Information report for the Colorado
River, Rifle and Government Creeks, and Hubbard Gulch (Reference 2).
Due to the use of more recent topographic mapping and a revised hydrologic
analysis, this study supersedes that report.

ARIX Engineers prepared a Comprehensive Drainage Plan for the City of
Rifle in January 1982 (Reference 14) which presented laO-year discharges
and flood plain boundaries for Hubbard Gulch and Rifle and Government
Creeks. The same cross section data were used in both that report and
this Flood Insurance Study; however, in this study the data were supple-
mented with December 1982 field surveyed data. Discharges and flood
plain delineations are similar between that report and this Flood Insurance
Study.

A revised Flood Insurance Study is being prepared for the unincorporated
areas of Garfield County, Colorado (Reference 14), and is in agreement
with this study.

Under the direction of the CWCB in Denver, Colorado, the COE (Sacramento
District) and the SCS are developing flood plain studies for the Colorado
River and several tributaries in Garfield County. This study is not
expected to be completed for several years.

7.0 LOCATION OF DATA

Information concerning the pertinent data used in the preparation of
this study can be obtained by contacting the Natural and Technological
Hazards Division, FEMA, Building 710, Denver Federal Center, Lakewood,
Colorado 80225.

8.0 BIBLIOGRAPHY AND REFERENCES

1.
